With a Vengeance

"Die Hard: With a Vengeance" was on TV yesterday. The film clearly does not compare to the firsr two, thus I have only seen it maybe once or twice, while I've seen the others many many times.
But I was curious as to how they would handle an important scene in the very beginning where the bad guy has John McClane stand in the middle of Harlem, wearing a sign that says, "I hate (the N word)".
Well much to my amusement, when the scene came, Sam Jackson looks up from his store he runs to see John McClane wearing a sign that says, "I hate everybody!". Better yet they still have the ominous music and close up into Jackson's eyes like, "oh my dear lord...no!"
Jackson says, "Call 911, tell them a white guy is about to be killed".

Yes, because as soon as someone sees him, they'll realize that they are part of everybody, and want to kill him for this!!!!

  • I remember that as well. I flipped by it on TV once and wondered how they'd handle it. It still runs second though to "Yippie Ki Aye, Mr. Falcon."

Die Hard 3 is clearly not as good as the first two, but it is still infinitely superior to any number of action films released since.

  • What's pathetic is that the people changing this stuff couldn't think to change it to "I hate black people". Simple as that.
