Top 10 favorite songs

It's almost impossible to name your 10 favorite songs. There are always songs at any given moment that you are really into and there are thousands of songs we all love. But, I thought I would just challenge myself to come up with 10, if by the old cliche', I was stuck on a desert island and could only choose 10.

1. If you could read my mind (Gordon Lightfoot)

2. Longer (Dan Folgerberg)

3. Yesterday (The Beatles)

4. Baba O'riley (The Who)

5. Layla (Eric Clapton)

6. Peaceful, Easy Feeling (The Eagles)

7. Cigarros (System of a Down) (or a good one from Rob Zombie would do)

8. Honesty (Billy Joel)

9. Reflections of my life (Marmalade)

10 Maybe (the musical "Annie")

Danny's song, Suspicious Minds could also easily be substituted in this top ten.

This list doesn't even scratch the surface of songs and bands I adore, such as The Doors, led zeppelin, elton john, david bowie, the stones, tenacious D, etc etc. But I would probably be pretty happy listening to these 10 every day of my life if I had to.

6 Comments:

  • I'd replace that System of a Down song with "Make It In Rockfort".

  • Must make it in Rockford master, must make it Rockford now.....

Letterman actually used to be funny when he was on NBC, classic bit, still have it on tape and DVD.

  • Hmmm... 10? I dunno...

    In no particular order:

    Heroes - David Bowie
    One Tree Hill - U2
    Avalon - Roxy Music
    Burn for You - INXS
    Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel
Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who
God Only Knows - The Beach Boys
Islands in the Stream - Bee Gees
    Redemption Song - Bob Marley
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic - The Police

Disclaimer: There are certainly more, but these could easily be listened to (and enjoyed) on a daily basis for the rest of my days.

  • I'm not surprised that I'm not really familiar with 6 of your 10 songs.
Some of my favorite Beatles songs would be considered their most obscure.
Bowie I would probably go with either Space Oddity or Young Americans or Life on Mars.
Oh wait, Under Pressure. That actually might have cracked my top ten if I had thought of it.

Wont get fooled again is definately a great one along with Who are you and Baba O'Riley.

God Only knows is definately the best beach boys song and a classic. "Wouldnt it be nice" would be second fave.

  • I think I actually might have had to move out "honesty" for "You make my dreams" by Hall & Oates.

  • I don't think I can narrow it down to 10...but "November Rain" by Guns and Roses is #1 on the list. Then just fill in some Elton John, Billy Joel, A little Creed and Nickleback, and some classic rock and 80's trash and I would be okie dokie.
