Puppy Power
I love animals, especially dogs. I often pay more attention to people's pets than them when I'm at their house. I haven't had a dog of my own since our family dog died a few years back.
I've kept thinking that I would get a puppy whenever I got married and settled somewhere permanently, but who knows when that could happen the way things have gone? So, I've been thinking recently, maybe I should just go ahead and get a puppy.
I know it will be a new responsibility that I'll have to plan for and stuff when I go off somewhere, and the potty training won't be fun, and I'll have to make sure he's not going to destroy things, like my DVD's and whatnot. But I'm sure it'll be worth it.
Any ideas or suggestions for a name?

DeNiro - What you'll be acting like the first time the puppy teethes on your digital camera.
Hades - Where you'll think it's from the first time it tinkles on the carpet.
Yako Ono - What you'll be yelling the first time it yaks up it's kibbles-n- bits in your favorite pair of shoes.

You could always get a dog that's afew years older from a shelter. Then hopefully potty training wouldn't be so hard.
Names...
Floppsy?
Moppsy?
Cottontail?
Frodo?
Bob?
Valentino?

Comedically, I like Jim and George.
The thought of calling out, "George, stop that! No George! Come here, George!" just sounds so odd.

I was serious about George. You could love him, and hug him, and keep him warm. And call him George.

Yeah, the Warner Bros cartoons..."and I will love him and pet him and name him George" :)
But I would feel like a giant oaf then.

Well, you are a giant oaf.

...why wasn't I informed of this until now?!

I almost called this post "Puppy loves Dada, Dada loves puppy too..."
But only one person (dvdguy) would have gotten it and everyone else would have thought I was nutty.

"...now that's hard-ly fan-cy phrasiology...and yet it's understood...puppies agree, a little puppy talk works real good..."

Never quote the theme song from Paternity again. Ever.

I still think you're nutty.

you can't name a dog til you meet him (or her) silly! if you haven't gotten a dog yet, may i suggest getting a girl, as they tend not to mark territory and/or hump things with quite the frequency their male counterparts do. with that said, i second the motion to get a shelter dog... but if you ever stumble across an available pekingese, snatch it up! they're the best!!! super smart, easy to train, lovable lap dogs, and great for lazy owners, b/c you give approx 3 minutes of runaround the room play time and they're all, "whew! good work out! ok, i'll see ya, heading to the closet for a quick nap."

not that i'm implying that YOU'RE lazy --- just that i am, and that's why my lil peke, 'penny' is the easiest dog i've ever had (previous tenants have been german shep mix, beagle/dachsund mix, and the wackiest of all: a french poodle/husky mix named digga.
p.s.dogs rule..just like the commercial says.

also, as dvd guy can attest to, penny would win any super-high jumping contest. also, she likes bathtubs.
ok, now i'm done for real.

Yes be sure to get a dog that loves bathtubs. That's some entertainment, as I can attest to.
